International IIW Certification:A Global Standard of Excellence
The International Institute of Welding (IIW) certification is the world reference system for the qualification of welding professionals and welding companies. In collaboration with ISO, IIW defines strict standards to guarantee quality, safety and technical expertise on an international scale.
We strongly encourage our members to engage in this pathway in order to strengthen their employability and their international mobility.
IIW Certification Levels
The IIW pathway adapts to the level of education and experience of each candidate:
- International Welding Practitioner (IWP): Intended for experienced welders.
- International Welding Specialist (IWS): Technician level.
- International Welding Technologist (IWT): Senior technician level.
- International Welding Engineer (IWE): The highest level, designed for engineers.
- International Welding Inspector (IWI): Specialisation in weld inspection, available in three levels (Basic, Standard, Comprehensive).
The certification pathway
To obtain your certificate, the process unfolds in three steps:
Training:
Follow a programme in an approved training centre (ATB).
Examination:
Validate theoretical and practical skills (quality control, technology).
Experience:
Provide proof, depending on the targeted level, of a minimum number of years of professional practice.
