Our activities
Advocacy:We Defend the Profession, We Structure Dialogue.
The defence of professional interests is rooted in trade union action. It seeks to protect the collective interest through collective bargaining and the representation of workers before employers.
In Cameroon, every worker has the fundamental right to join a union or request its support.
Missions and Roles of Trade Unions
Trade unions bring together professionals working in identical, similar or related trades. Their mission is clearly structured:
- Rights protection: Reviewing and defending material, moral, collective and individual interests.
- Legal action: The ability to take legal action to ensure workers’ rights are respected.
- Social dialogue: Negotiating collective agreements in partnership with employers and public authorities.
Structure and Organisation
To ensure effective action, the union is organised across three levels:
- National level: A National Office, led by an elected President, sets the major strategic directions.
- Local level: Regional Delegates ensure coordination and close support across the country’s 10 regions.
- Company level: Union Sections form the basic unit, closest to day-to-day field realities.
